Jujube wood has been used in Asia for cutlery and drink-ware by asian ancestors of long ago. The wood is especially good for drinking vessels as it has tiny pores that will not absorb liquids. Additionally the wood is treated with a natural lacquer which is the sap that is collected from Date Trees and Chinese Lacquer Trees. The process is a point of pride and quality that dates back to ancient times. The result is a beautiful, smooth and durable Maté Gourd. Each one has it's own unique wood grain pattern.
